Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an organic waste water treating method, capable of removing nitrogen compounds contained in waste water promptly and in simple and economical manner, by supplying organic waste water and liquid from a nitrifying tank continuously to a lower portion of an expansion tank in which fluidized bed is formed, such that jet stream is developed in the expansion tank.
CONSTITUTION: Organic waste water 1 containing therein ammoniacal nitrogen is introduced into a first denitrifying tank 2 which is kept under aerobic condition, and in the tank 2, NOx contained in liquid issused from nitrifying tank 3 is converted into N2, with BOD components in waste water 1 being used as hydrogen supplying medium. In the first denitrifying tank 2, there is used a fluidized bed of microorganism attached to solid-particle carrier, and the fluidized bed is made of a stable expansion zone at its upper portion and a jet stream zone at the lower portion. Organic waste water and liquid from the nitrifying tank 3 are introduced into the denitrifying tank 2, in the manner that jet-stream region is formed at the portion of tank 2 ranging from the bottom of tank 2 to 1/10W1/4 or the fluidized bed. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to prevent stagnation of solid particles, to remove nitrogen compounds contained in waste water in a short while, and to reduce the costs required for the treatment.
