Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the drying of wastes dumping site by reducing nitrogen load to leachate treatment facilities and by obviating the need for the supply of carbon soruce by the procedure in which leachate from wastes dumping site is treated by nitrification and then by denitirification anaerobic condition at the site.
CONSTITUTION: Leachate from the wastes dumping site 1 is sent to the nitrification tank 5 through the pretreatment apparatus 2 to remove impurities by screen and the aeration regulating tank 3 to control the variation in water quality and treated by biological membrane fixed bed there. Then, it is sent back to the dumping site through the return path 7 and denitrified by means of denitrifying bacteria present in dumped wastes and soil under anaerobic condition by utilizing organic carbon present in wastes. The leachate so treated is clarified through the catalytic oxidation 10 to reduce BOD, the coagulating sedimentation tank 12, the sand filtering apparatus 16, and the active carbon adsorption apparatus 17, for example.
