Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the transmission loss of a conductive material for communication cable by controlling increase in the specific resistance during the generation of Joule heat by adding one or more kinds of Cr, Fe, Co and Ni in a limited amount to Cu alloy containing a specific amount of Mn.
CONSTITUTION: 0.05 to 2% of one or more kinds of Cr, Fe, Co, and Ni is added to an alloy obtained with addition of 1 to 5% by weight of Mn to Cu. The conductive material thus obtained is low in the electric resistance temperature coefficientα (over one-half less than that of pure Cu) sufficiently to check the deterioration in the transmission characteristic attended by temperature changes. In addition, this material is low both in the specific resistance p and the electric resistance temperature coefficient as compared with manganin.
