Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a method of treating organic waste water by way of two-stage biological treatment, according to which a portion of organic waste water to be treated is by-passed to a secondary biological treatment tank, in treating the waste water by way of a primary biological treatment by use of trickling filters and secondary biological treatment by use of activated sludge, whereby it is enabled to reduce the amount of organic matters contained in the waste water after it is subjected to the secondary biological treatment.
CONSTITUTION: Organic waste water to be treated is introduced into trickling filter bed 4 via pre- treating means 1, and liquid discharged from the filter bed 4 is introduced into a receptacle tank 6. Overflow liquid from tank 6 is introduced into sludge separation tank 7 where superfluous sludge is separated and provide a primary treated liquid which is subjected to a primary biological treatment. The primary treated liquid is then introduced into an aeration tank 9 on the side of secondary biological treatment, where a portion of original waste water is supplied via by-pass line 3. When a portion of original waste water is added into the aeration tank 9, substances difficult to decompose, contained in the primary treated liquid, are decomposed. It is assumed that a small amount of nutritions source is contained in the original waste water, although it is not contained in the primary treated liquid, and presence of such substances serve to decompose substances difficult to decompose, contained in the primary treated liquid.
