Abstract

PURPOSE: For reducing the enclosure amount of refrigerant in the air conditioner in which a refrigerant heater is provided on the lower course side of a room-outside heat exchanger, to decrease the amount of the refrigerant in said heat exchanger since a portion of the discharge gas generated upon room warming is injected in said heat exchanger.
CONSTITUTION: When operation is made at a low ambient temperature, the refrigerant from a room-outside heat exchanger 6 as refrigerant passage is evaporated by the refrigerant heater 8 provided on the lower course side of said heat exchanger 6 and liquefied by a room inside heat exchanger 3 while radiating heat after passing through a compressor 1. In the meanwhile a portion of discharge gas flows into said room-outside heat exchanger 6 through a bypass pipe 9, a throttle 11 and a valve 10. Therefore, the dryness of the refrigerant in said room-outside heat exchanger 6 is increased and the amount of the refrigerant in said heat exchanger 6 is decreased. Thus, the total amount of the refrigerant in the whole structure of an air conditioner can be decreased.
