Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:An acylated pyrrole-1-acetic acid derivative of formulaI: (R1 is lower alkyl group; R2 is H or lower alkyl group; R3 is H, lower alkyl group, or inorganic or organic base cation; Ar is five-to six-menbered monocyclic aromatic ring).
EXAMPLE: 3-Benzoyl-2,5-dimethylpyrrole-1-acetic acid.
USE: Anti-inflammatory and anti-thrombotic agents.
PROCESS: A pyrrole-1-acetic acid derivative of formula II is condensed with an acylating agent, e.g. benzoic acid, 0-methylbenzoic acid, acid fluoride, etc., selected from the group consisting of aromatic carboxylic acids of the formula Ar COOH, their acid halides, and anhydrides in the presence of an acidic catalyst, e.g. aluminum chloride, titanium tetrachloride, etc., and, if necessary, hydrolyzed or subjected to the base exchange reaction to give the objective compound of formulaI. The starting compound of formula II can be obtained from a 1,4-diketone and an optically active or inactive α-amino acid.
