Abstract
PURPOSE: Molten slag from blast furnaces, converters and electric furnaces are granulated and then brought into contact with pulverized or granulated coal in a thermal cracking furnace to effect dry distillation, thereby making the cost for the endothermic reactions on the dry distillation zero since the heat of the molten slag is utilized.
CONSTITUTION: Molten slag flows down from slag pan 1 through turn dish 2 and tray 3 and is blown from jetting nozzle 4a with a pressurized air and made into granules in revolving drum 5 and stored in slag tank 6 as granulated and hot slag. Then the granulated slag is sent through bell 11 into slag tank 8 where it is sotred under heat-insulation conditions and a certain amount of high-temperature and granulated slag is charged into thermal cracking furnace 9. At the same time, a necessary amount of pulverized or granulated coal is jetted from coal tank 16 into thernal craking furnace 9 to effect dry distillation. The gas formed by dry distillation is subjected to dedusting in cyclon 17 and heat exchanging in heat exchanger 18 and then stored in tank 21. The residue in furnace 9 is sent into separation tank 10 and cooled with air 14a from blower 22, then expelled from gate 15.
