Abstract

PURPOSE:To recover the sensible heat of blast furnace slag effectively as a heat source to be blown into a blast furnace by dry-granulating the molten slag discharged from the blast furnace in an adjacent hea recovery tower, heating the air fed from its lower part into hot wind and passing the same through a filter material thereby removing harmful gases. CONSTITUTION:The molten slag 11 of a blast furnace carried to the upper part of a heat recovery tower 1 is accumulated once in a molten slag well 3, and a cover is put thereon, thence compressed air 8 is fed and a stopper 7 is opened to drop the molten slag to the lower part of the tower 1 through a nozzle 9. At this time, the slag 11 is dry-granulated 13 by jet air nozzles 10 provided around the nozzle 9, and while the granular slag is dropped downward, it is solidified and piled to obtain blast furnace slag particles. At the same time, the blast furnace blast 12 fed from the lower part of the tower 1 is heated, whereby the recovery of waste heat is accomplished. The hot wind heated to high temp. goes through an upper communicating pipe 16 into a hot wind purifying tower 2, where it is removed of harmful gases with a filter material 15, after which it is directed to a hot stove 21.
