Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover sensible heat of a solid effectively, by bringing the solid with sensible heat into contact with air which is made to flow countercurrently in a heat exchange vessel so that hot air is produced, followed by converting the air into high calorie fuel gas through water gas preparing reaction.
CONSTITUTION: The crushed pieces 1 of a solid with sensible heat, e.g., pig iron, slag in steel manufacture, etc are fed to the heat exchange vessel 2 from its top, the cool air 4 is introduced to the vessel 2 from the botton so that the solid is brought into contact with the air countercurrently, and the cooled solid 1 is discharged from the bottom. While the hot air 5 heated by the heat exchanger, the steam 7, and the carbon-based fuel 8 are introduced to the reactor 6 for preparing water gas, wherein high calorie gas consisting of CO, N2 and H2 is formed. The gas 9 is transferred from the cyclone 10 to heating furnaces of individual plants and used as fuel gas.
EFFECT: The use of surplus materials, e.g., coal powder, coke powder, etc. as carbon-based fuel has the effect of conservation of energy.
