Abstract
PURPOSE: In a shaft furnace, coke and a slag former is fed from the top, air is fed from the bottom and the gas to be reformed is fed from a specific place to increase the concentration of carbon monoxide without any contamination of the gas, thus producing a gas of high calorie.
CONSTITUTION: First of all, coke and a slag former such as slag from revolving furnaces or lime stone are charged from the top of a shaft furnace such as blust furnace and air is blown from the tuyere 2 at the bottom 1 into the furnace. When necessary, oxygen, steam and burnt waste gas from a hot blast stove are blown into the furnace to control the burning temperature. In the meantime, B gas to be reformed of low calorie such as blast furnace gas is blown from inlet 3 above the tuyere 2 into the furnace 1 to increase the concentration of carbon monoxide in the B gas by the carbon solution reaction given in the equation. Thus, the B gas is reformed into a high-calorie gas.
EFFECT: A gas containing high sulfure can be reformed into a clean gas.
