Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible the feed of the sheet be carried out surely, by installing the clamp for clamping the rolled material in front and back of the rolling mill so as to be movable forward and backward, and by using the clamps on purpose to maintain the tension while the rolled material is fed into and passes over the rolling roll.

CONSTITUTION: When the rolled material is to be fed into the rolling roll 5 from the direction of the inlet side tension reel 6, the slide frame 7a is retreated, and the clamps 9a and 9b are opened so as to pass the rolled material. When the front end of the rolled material goes L₁+α forward from the position of the slide frame, the clamp 9a is closed so as to clamp the rolled material; under this condition, the frame 7a is advanced by L₃=(L₂-L₁), so as to feed the front end into the roll 5; after the feeding is completed, the clamp 9a is opened. Next, when the rolled material passes over the roll 5, the clamp 9b is opened so as to loosely clamp the front end of the rolled material 2 and is left under this condition until soon before the rear end passes over, while the frame 7b is being retreated.
