Abstract

1535136 Shearing P MIRAMONDI 25 Feb 1977 [11 March 1976] 08029/77 Heading B3W Pieces of sheet metal are fed on slideways 1 between presses 2 by a carriage 11 movable along a guide bar 9, the carriage having at its ends vertically movable arms 16, 16<SP>1</SP> supporting cross-beams 17, 17<SP>1</SP> the ends 19 of which engage the sheet to be fed. The carriage is driven by a chain 12 and a motor 14 controlled by microswitches 15 along the feed path of the sheet. Upon a return movement of the carriage the leading ends 19 ride up over a sheet just advanced by the trailing ends and come to rest behind the sheet they then advance by a further step upon the next forward movement of the carriage. The sheet bears against a sheet already advanced and feeds it into the next press, the trailing ends 19 having received and advanced a succeeding sheet from the press 2. The feeder may slide out of the gap between the presses.
