Abstract

PURPOSE:To assuredly achieve one side oxidation, an oxidizing gas is jetted on an activated surface of metal belt, when a deflector roll contacts the metal and changes its moving direction. CONSTITUTION:A steel belt to be galvanized is cleaned, activated in a reducing furnace and then it is curved while changing its moving direction by contacting a deflector roll 1. On the curved surface, an oxidizing gas such as air is jetted through nozzles 2 and non-oxidizing gas such as nitrogen is jetted through nozzles 4. Suction holes 3 between nozzles 2 and 4 suck in a sufficient amount of these gases to prevent diffusion of oxygen and nitrogen. The treated steel belt is then introduced into a galvanizing bath for one side galvanization. The process assures effective one side oxidation of steel belt without deteriously affecting the other side to be galvanized.
