Abstract

PURPOSE: To magnify the allowable range of detection distance between a magnetic sensor and a magnet (disc) and facilitate handling of the magnetic sensor by magnetically shorting a pair of yokes of the magnetic sensor by means of a magnetic short bar using a ferromagnetic material.
CONSTITUTION: A magnetic short bar 11 which magnetically shorts the yokes 3, 3a of a magnetic sensor 1 is so provided that the magnetic permeabilities of the yokes 3, 3a are larger than the magnetic permeability of the magnetic short bar in a low magnetic field and smaller in a strong magnetic field. In the case of detecting rotating angles by disposing this magnetic sensor 1 in proximity to a disc including a magnet, it does not receive the effect of the magnetic short bar in a weak magnetic field but is shorted in a strong magnetic field, thus the ratio of the magnetic flux flowing the magnetic line decreases. Hence, the ratio of the change in the magnetic flux in the magnetic line is smaller than the change in the magnetic flux in a gap G, thus even if the magnetic field in the gap G changes largely, the magnetic field thereof may be sufficiently detected and therefore the distance l between the magnetic sensor 1 and the magnet may be made smaller and the allowable range is magnified.
