Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:Pyridone derivatives of formula I (R5 is H, lower alkyl phenyl- lower-alkyl).
EXAMPLE: 6-Amino-1-methoxy-4-phenyl-2-pyridone.
USE: Antiflammatory analgesics: they have antiflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic activities.
PREPARATION: A compound of formula II (any one in R1, R2, R3 is phenyl and the rests are H; R4 is H, lower alkyl) and a compound of formula III are cooled or heated in an organic solvent such as methanol, ethanol or ether to give a phyidone derivative of formula I. The compound of formula III may be an acid adduct such as hydrochloride or hydrobromide and at that time the reaction is conducted in the presence of a base such as sodium methoxide
