Abstract

PURPOSE: To isolate and purify isoleucine to a high purity in a high yield in a very simple process, by treating impurities consisting mainly of valine in the isoleucine, using a nonpolar highly porous polymer resin.
CONSTITUTION: Impurities consisting mainly of valine in isoleucine are injected into a column packed with a nonpolar highly porous polymer resin, such as Diaion HP resin, e.g. Diaion HP20, etc., Amberlite XAD-2 or XAD-4, etc. An eluent, e.g. water, dil. aqueous ammonia, dil. hydrochloric acid, etc. is passed through the cloumn to elute amino acids one after another, thus separating isoleucine of high purity from the valine. The amount of the resin used is about 2W20 times that of an aqueous solution containing about 10W20% of isoleucine
