Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable sufficient recording to be performed even with energy beams of weaker outputs than before by mixing materials of low heat conductivity in recording layer. CONSTITUTION:Radiation energy absorbing material 2a such as of a metal, semimetal or the like and low heat conductivity material 2b such as of organic high polymer material having heat conductivity less than 1/2, preferably less than 1/10 the heat conductivity of said material are evaporated in a vacuum, and are deposited as a recording layer 2 on a substrate 1. Volume mixing ratios of the materials 2a, 2b are 0.03 to 40 of the material 2b, preferably ratios of 0.05 to 5, based on one part of the material 2a. At the time when an energy beam 3 such as of laser light is radiated to such recording medium, the escape of the heat evolved in the layer 2 of the radiated part to the adjoining parts becomes less and the materials 2a, 2b effectively melt, deform and evaporate, thus recording is effected by the change in their physical constants.
