Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the title catalyst of high ectivity esp. for hydration of olefin by reducting zirconium tungstate, in the presence of H2, formed by the reaction of water sol. tungstates with water sol. Zr salts in a specific molar ratio of W/Zr.
CONSTITUTION: Water sol. tungstates such as Na2WO4.2H2O and water sol. Zr salts such as ZrOCl2.8H2O separately dissolved in water are allowed to react in the molar ratio of W/Zr=1.0W2.0. The resulting zirconium tungstate is then pulverized and reduced with heating at 450W600°C for severalWseveral tens hr in the presence of H2 gas to obtain desired zirconium tungstate. The degree of the reduction is pref. maintained in the range of +5.5W+3 valence of W
