Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the title product which is highly active as olefin hydration catalyst by washing hydrogel, a reaction product of water sol. tungstates and zirconium salts so that the pH value is adjusted to a specific value or below, followed by drying at high temp.
CONSTITUTION: Water sol. tungstates such as Na2WO4 and zirconium salts such as ZrOCl2 are allowed to react in the molar ratio of W:Zr=(1W3):1 in an aq. medium in the presence of hydrochloric acid or nitric acid. The resulting hydrogel is washed with water or the like to adjust the pH to 2.5 or below and dried at 300W550, pref. 350W500°C
