Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the size of the pump by returning to an air-water separating chamber a part of the water overflowed from the air-water separating chamber at the time the water level in the air-water separating chamber is about to fall and thereby preventing the drop in the self-suction action.
CONSTITUTION: A discharge gate is provided at the upper end of air-water separating chamber 15, and water is supplied outside via pipe joint 19 and discharge pipe 21. Expansion chamber 23 is formed in pipe joint 19. Air-water separating chamber 15 is linked to reserve chamber 11 by means of returning water port 25. At the time of the operation of the pump, by the pumping action of impeller 5 water is supplied from suction hose 7 to discharge pipe 21. But when the pump is not in operation, the return flow of water is prevented by stop valve 27 provided between suction port 9 and reserve chamber 11. Consequently, the water overflowed at the start of self suction is stored in the expansion chamber, and when the water level is about to fall, the stored water is returned to the air-water separating chamber. Thus, the inflow of air is reduced, and thereby, the capacity of air-water separating chamber 15 can be made small without obstructing the air-water separation.
