Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate air-water separation by providing a self-suction rib at the upper part of a separation chamber in the direction facing the discharge port and reducing the speed of flow in the separation chamber.
CONSTITUTION: Impeller 7 is fitted to shaft 14 of motor 6. By partitioning wall 4, the suction side is separated from the discharge side. Pump chamber P is formed by partitioning wall 4, side plate 91 and outer wall 92. Stop valve 12 prevents water from flowing into the suction side. When the pump is put into operation by introducing prime, the air in the suction side is expelled by impeller 7 and air-water separation is performed in separation chamber 11. The water separated from air passes return hole 13 enters again the suction side of impeller 7, and then air-water separation is repeated. Thus, the air-water mixture ejected by impeller 7 is slowed down by self-suction rib 3, and air bubbles rise along self-suction rib 3. For this reason, air-water separation is facilitated and self-suction efficiency is increased without lowering the pumping efficiency.
