Abstract
PURPOSE: To easily and accurately measure the incidence point and refractive angle of a probe by forming a reference device body formed on its upper side with such a curved portion as corresponds to the curved shape of a shoe attached to the probe and on its side with a through hole for measuring the refractive angle of ultrasonic waves.
CONSTITUTION: A measuring reference body 4 is formed at its upper end with a curved portion 11, which corresponds to the curved surface of a shoe formed on a probe, such that it corresponds to the outside diameter of the piping for measuring the curvature. The curved portion 11 is formed at the both side of the longitudinal center portion thereof with a groove 12 and at the longitudially other end and at the vertically center portion with a through hole 24 for measuring the refractive angle of ultrasonic waves. In case a flaw is located in the axial direction from the outer circumference of the piping, a probe 1 carrying a shoe 7 is placed above the curved portion 11 and is moved along the portion 11 so that the maximum echo of the ultrasonic waves is located from a Brown tube so as to read out the incidence point. On the other hand, the probe 1 is moved along the curved portion 11 to receive the ultrasonic waves reflected by a hole 14 so that the tone of the echo is measured thereby to display the refractive angle in the scale which is positioned to correspond to the maximum of the echo tone.
