Abstract

PURPOSE: To fit a split type ultrasonic feeler to one end of a pipe having at its one end a scale showing an angle of rotation in the peripheral direction and a distance scale in the longitudinal direction, and insert the thus prepared pipe through a pipe to be measured, whereby the defects of the pipe such as corrosive states, cracks and the like can be accurately detected.
CONSTITUTION: At one end of a pipe 2 on which a scale S1 showing the rotational angle and a scale S2 of distance from a supersonic incident point in the longitudinal there is fitted a split type ultrasonic feeler 1 by means of a pin 3, and the feeler 1 and a ultrasonic thickness meter 6 or a ultrasonic flaw detector 7 are connected by a signal line passing through the pipe 2. The feeler 1 and the pipe 2 are inserted into the pipe to be measured, and movad in the longitudinal and peripheral directions, whereby mechanical defects of the pipe such as the corrosive states, cracks, flaws and the like can be detected accurately from the inner side of the pipe and the positions of defects can be detected easily by the scales S1 and S2.
