Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the wind resistance and the adhesion of water drops or frost by designing the plate fin so that the contact angle of water drops be approximately more than 110° and forming the water repellent film on the surface.
CONSTITUTION: The water repellent film is formed on the surface of the aluminum fin by applying silicone resin or ethylene tetrafluoride to make the contact angle of water drops more than 110°. Although the water pressure loss decreases where the contact angle is less ttan 70° or over 95°, the contact area and the interfacial tension become large in case of the hydrophile film, and the energy to separate water drops from the fin becomes large. On the other hand, water is well drained off by forming such water repellent film and making the contact angle over 110°, and water drops and frost become hard to adhere. Therefore, the wind resistance becomes smaller, and water drops and frost do not easily adhere.
