Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a high heat transmitting effect by forming an inclined grooves in the surface of a heat transmitting tube in the direction counterclockwise.
CONSTITUTION: An inclined groove or grooves inclined in the direction of left- handed screw are formed in the surface 1a of a heat transmitting tube 1. By the function of such a groove 2, liquid condensed on the surface 1a of tube 1 at first flows into the groove 2 and then drops downward smoothly along the groove 2. Such a flow of condensed liquid wakes distance away gradually as it flows downward and at last comes out of the groove 2. Therefore, thickness of the film of condensed liquid can be kept smaller than a certain value along the entire length of tube 1. Further, since condensed liquid is drawn from the surface 1a of tube 1 toward groove 2 by the function of surface tension, condensation of liquid on the surface 1a is promoted resulting in the enhancement of coefficient of condensation heat transmission.
