Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase the heat transfer efficiency of the heat transfer pipe and to reduce a pressure loss by a method wherein a spiral groove is formed on the wall of the heat transfer pipe and the depth, the pitch, the sectional configuration and the angle of inclination of the groove with respect to the axis of the pipe are specified.
CONSTITUTION: The spiral groove 2 is formed on the inner wall surface of the heat transfer pipe 1. In this case, the depth of the groove 2 is made to be of 0.02W 0.2mm, the pitch thereof to be of 0.1W0.5mm and the angle β of inclination thereof with respect to the axis of the pipe to be of 4W15°. Further, in case the groove 2 is V-shaped in configuration, the vertical angle is made smaller than an acute angle while in case it is U-shaped in configuration, the ratio of its length is larger than 0.4. Consequently, the transfer of a liquid in the groove is made easily due to the surface tension of the liquid which makes it possible to obtain a high heat transfer efficiency in cooperation with the effect of increasing the sectional area of the heat transfer surface. Further, as the liquid smoothes the groove by covering same, the pressure loss is reduced to the same level as in the case of the conventional smooth pipe.
