Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize stable atomic oscillator not subject to the effect of magnetism, by automatically detecting the variation in the transition frequency of atom by means of magnetic field. CONSTITUTION:The gas cells 6 and 7 including atomic vapor are placed at the two portions of the two cavities or one cavity resonant in one frequency, and one gas cell 6 is used for the control of crystal oscillator and another gas cell 7 is used for magnetic field variation detection. Independent C-magnetic field is applied to at least one of the two gas cells. When the input frequency fR is in agreement with the resonant frequency fR1 of the gas cell 6, the crystal oscillator 1 is controlled by light and microwave duplicate resonance. Further, if the magnetic field strength applied to the gas cell is slightly changed, there is a difference between the resonant frequencies of the gas cells 6 and 7. This difference is detected with the photo detector 16, and negative feedback control is made by using the C-magnetic field controller 18, then automatic restoration to original magnetic field strength is made. Accordingly, no servere magnetic shield can be required for the atomic resonator.
