Abstract

PURPOSE:To contrive the reduction in electric power and size of the gas cell type atomic oscillator by providing an atomic resonant cell and a lamp in the same constant-temperature oven, and thermally coupling the crystal vibrator of a voltage controlled crystal oscillator to the oven. CONSTITUTION:An atomic resonant cell 12 and a lamp cell 13 are contained in the same constant temperature oven 14. The oven 14 operates also as a microwave resonator, and remains at constant temperature by a heater 15 and a controller 16. The crystal resonator 18 of a voltage controlled crystal oscillator 17 is mounted in the recess at the part of the oven 14, and is thermally coupled therewith. The lamp cell 13 is excited by an exciter 19, a photodetector and an amplifier 21 are provided, the voltage controlled crystal oscillator and a frequency multiplying synthesizer 17 are provided, and are magnetically shielded by an external housing 20. Since only one constant temperature oven is enough in this configuration, the power consumption can be largely reduced.
