Abstract

PURPOSE: A foaming accelerator is provided near downstream of a flow-in barrier located at the liquid flow-in side of a perforated barrier, thereby effecting low pressure operation in wide range.
CONSTITUTION: A foam accelerating, inclined barrier 8 combined with the flow-in barrier 1 is provided above the joint zone of the flow-in barrier 1 and the perforated plate 7. Liquid flows down the overflow pipe 5, is contained in the trap 6 and flows over this inclined barrier 8. The liquid flowing from the barrier 8 to the perforated plate 7 traps gas, causing bubble 9 containing liquid under the barrier 8. The presence of the bubble 9 lowers the density of the liquid layer, facilitating the bubble formation under the plate 7. The bubbles 9 sequently induces bubble formation along downstream of the plate surface 7 attaining the total bubble formation. The inclined barrier 8 is placed at an acute angle to the perforated plate 7, and the barrier 8 is preferably made higher than the liquid depth.
