Abstract

PURPOSE: To properly locate the opening of tanks by adjusting the buoyancy of a float for automatically discharging only upper layer liquid at an equal rate to the production sate thereof while absolutely avoiding the discharge of lower layer liquid.
CONSTITUTION: A float is adjusted so that the upper opening of the upper layer discharge pipe following up the vertical transfer of said float may be stabilized above a fixed height from the interface between upper and lower layer liquids, and said upper layer liquid produced and supplied above said fixed height is let flow in said discharge pipe through the upper end opening thereof and discharged from a tank. The buoyancy of said float is generated mainly by said lower layer liquid and set so that the location of the opening of said discharge pipe may be stabilized when the height of said upper layer liquid is at a fixed value. Thereby, layer separation is progressed. When said upper layer liquid has reached said location of said opening, only said upper layer liquid can be automatically discharged at an equal rate to the production rate developed thereafter thereof.
