Abstract
PURPOSE: To start discharge siphon tube instantaneously and to perform backwashing and cleaning in spite of the case in which the rate of inflow of raw water into a filter tank is slight by setting the top part of the discharge siphon tube in a position lower than the water level of a filtered water storage tank.
CONSTITUTION: Raw water is filtered in a filter tank 18 from upper layers to lower layers, and the clean water is transferred from a connecting pipe 16 to a filtered water storage tank 10, and flows out through an outflow pipe 17. When the filter height increases on gradual closing of the filter tank 18, the air in a siphon tube 13 is released from the leading end 7 of a start pipe into a discharge water receiving tank 4, then the water head in the siphon tube 13 rises and arrives at the head part 6 of the start pipe, and a small amount of water flows into a siphon start pipe 5. Hence, a small mount of air in the head part 6 is released into a siphon tube 19, by which the balance is broken and the water is flowed impulsively into the head part 6. At this time, an ejector 8 operates to suck out the air from the tube 13 through a deaerating pipe 9 and to evacuate said tube, due to which a large amount of the water flows from the head part 6 and the tube 13 starts operating.
