PURPOSE:To provide stable continuous discharge and pulse discharge by installing a means to set variably the charging voltage of a capacitor in accordance with the output of phase shifting circuit which changes impedance on basis of the detected values of voltage and current. CONSTITUTION:Laser resonator consisting of laser substance 1 and resonator mirrors 2a and 2b is formed, and in the confronting place, flash lamp 3 to be controlled by trigger power source 4 is arranged. Power source P is connected to power transformer 12 by means of phase control elements consisting of SCR11a and 11b. Output signal of the transformer is rectified by diode bridge 13, and charge is accumulated in charging and discharging capacitor 14. Impedance of variable impedance circuit can be variably and independently set by variable resistors 21 and 22, and the impressed voltage and discharge current can be independently and variably set for the discharging of flash lamp 3. Also, the power supply from capacitor l4 to flash lamp 3 is controlled by the one-and off-timing of switching circuit 7.
