Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the subject method comprising the steps of : supplying processing currents from a plurality of feeding points to a wire electrode, detecting presence or absence of currents flowing through respective feeding points, and logically judging the detected results, thereby detecting the breaking of the wire electrode during the processing operation in a short period of time.
CONSTITUTION: When the processing is carried out normally, processing currents flow from feeding members 11A and 11B to an electrode 2, and the presence or absence of the output of a current detecting current 30A is constantly coincides with that of the output of the current detecting circuit 30B. When the wire electrode 2 is broken, the current flows through only one feeding member. Therefore, a discordance between the output signals of current detecting circuits 30A and 30B occurs, and this discordance is detected by the output of an exclusive "OR" gate 37, whereby the breaking of the wire electrode can be detected in an extremely short period of time. The breaking signal thus obtained is supplied as input to a control circuit 19 of a processing source 14 to interrupt the output of the processing source 14.
