Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent heating, deterioration and breakage of the transistor due to the voltage drop by differentially detecting the reduction of the input power voltage and then stopping the operation of the switching transistor.
CONSTITUTION: In normal operation, base potential of a transistor 21 is higher than that of a transistor 22, so all current from an output terminal 6 passing through a resistor 20 flows into the transistor 22 and a voltage drop across a resistor 25 becomes 0. when the voltage from an input power supply 1 is lowered gradually and becomes lower than the base potential of the transistor 22, the transistor 21 is turned to conduction. Therefore, all current that has passed through the transistor 22 up to that time starts to flow into the transistor 21 and produces the voltage drop across the resistor 25 so as to conduct a thyristor 31 of a protecting circuit 30. Through this conduction of the thyristor 31, a driving circuit 7 connected to the anode of the thyristor is short-circuited. This stops supply of the driving current to the base of a switching transistor 3 and thus the transistor 3 is turned off.
