Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture formed coke having excellent qualities, in high yield, using non-caking coal or slightly caking coal as main raw material, by carbonizing the briquette of the raw coal at high temperature, under pressurized atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: Briquette coal obtained by the compression molding of a mixed coal mainly composed of non-caking coal or slightly caking coal, and a binder, is carbonized at high temperature under a pressurized atmosphere. The thermal decomposition of the coal is suppressed by the carbonization under pressure, and a high quality coke can be manufactured. The yield of the coke is also improved by the decreased amounts of the heat decomposed tar and gas.
