Abstract

PURPOSE: To impart turbulent flow to the mixture gas in a combustion chamber and even the mixing by arranging a control valve in an air introduction passage which opens on the upstream of a throttle valve and is provided with an air injection port near the valve disc of a suction valve and controlling the passing air amount.
CONSTITUTION: A throttle valve 10 is fixed to a throttle valve shaft 12 of which the ends are supported by the pipe wall 11 of a suction duct 4. An air introduction passage 9 in the wall 11 opens at its one end on the upstream of the valve 10 and at the other end near the valve disc 7 of a suction valve 1. A communication hole 13 in the shaft 12 is rotated according to the opening of the valve 10, and constitutes a control valve for continuous control of the amount of air flowing through the duct 9. In high-load operation where the valve 10 opens wider, the hole 13 increases the passing air amount ; in low-load operation, the hole 13 decreases the passing air amount. The mixture gas in a combustion chamber is imparted with turbulent flow effectively by a proper amount of air injected from an air injection port according to the load on the engine.
