Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the flame propagation efficiency and stabilize the ignition, by disturbing the intake flow around an intake valve to accelerate the stirring of the mixture when the quantity of the intake is low under the light-load running etc.
CONSTITUTION: A control valve 18 remains closed under the light-load running in which an operating member 24 such as a throttle grip is slightly operated and a throttle valve 17 is slightly opened through wire. Therefore, the mixture is injected into an intake passage 6 through a small intale passage 25 and an injector 26 and a high-speed swirl is caused in a cylinder 1 in the suction process wherein the intake valve 5 is opened. When the operating member 24 is further operated, the control valve 18 is opened and the mixture flows through the intake passage 6 without flowing through the small intake passage 25. At that time, since the mixture collides against a projecting member 27 projecting movably into and out of the intake passage 26, turbulent flow is produced and the swirl is caused in a combustion chamber 4
