Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent explosion in reducing blow out of a blast furnace by opening the peep hole cover of a tuyere under the conditions of blast from the tuyere when a burden level reaches the tuyere and by stopping blast to automatically draw the air through the peep hole. CONSTITUTION:In reducing blow out of a blast furnace, blast form tuyere 4 is gradually reduced as burden 8 falls to allow the level of burden 8 to reach level 3 of tuyere 4. By opening conver 6 of peep hole 9 of tuyere 4, part of blast is released out of hole 9, yet blast is continued in th furnace through branch pipe 7. The blast through pipe 7 is then stopped, whereby the ventilating state at hole 9 is reversed to blow air from the outside into blast furnace 5 through pipe 7. Thus, combustion in furnace 5 is maintained to prevent explosion.
