Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve the reduction in thickness by disposing a porous material between display electrodes and a counter electrodes.
CONSTITUTION: A porous material composed of the fibrous resins comprising making material resins such as polytetrafluoroethylene, polypropylene, polyethylene, polyamide, etc. having chemical resistance and heat resistance to electrolyte components to fibers then forming or stretching the fibers to non-waven fabrics, felts, etc, is prepared. The porous material composed of the fibrous resins is provided between the display electrodes and counter electrode composed of electrochromic materials laminated on each of a pair of substrates through transparent conductive layer and is then impregnated with electrolyte. Then, the porous material composed of the fibrous resins plays the role of giving a display background and the role of constituting the electrolyte layer, thus resulting in the increased contrast and decreased thickness of the electrolyte layer.
