Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce NH3 in a high yeild using cheap catalyst by reacting NO and H2 in the presence of catalyst contg. Bi and Mn and/or Fe.
CONSTITUTION: In the presence of catalyst congt. Bi and Mn and/or Fe, H2 and NO are reacted in a molar ratio of H2/NO above 1, esp. about 2W100 to produce NH3. The reaction temp. is 200W900, pref. about 400W750°C, and the reaction press. ordinary press.Wabout 100 atm, usually ordinary press.Wabout 10 atm. The raw material NO is pure, may be diluted with an inert gas such as N2 or Ar, and may contain NOx such as NO2 or N2O. The catalyst is prepared as follows: for example, the above metals and/or their cpds. are mixed well, optionally dried, and calcined.
