Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce the catalysts which maintain high NOx purification rate and high activity stably over a long period of time by mixing the ammonium salt of sulfuric acid and titanium dioxide to the solution of the specific vanadium compound.
CONSTITUTION: Ammonium metavanadate is added to the heated water and oxalic acid is added under stirring to let ammonium metavanadate dissolve and reduce vanadium. To this is added ammonium sulfate, thence titanium dioxide powder is added and mixed. The mixture is removed of moisture and is extrusion molded to bar form. This is then cut to pellets which are next baked at 400W650°C in an oxygen-containing gas atmosphere such as air or other. Thereby, the catalysts composed of vanadium pentaoxide and titanium dioxide are obtained.
