Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a shaping beam antenna featuring a simplified feeding system by dividing the center part of the electric wave lens into two parts via the concentric circle and forming the circumference part as an electric wave condenser lens which converts the spherical wave into the plane wave. CONSTITUTION:Electric wave lens 2 consisting of the dielectric in front of feeding horn 1 with point F and axis Z used as the phase center of the radiation spherical wave and the beam axis respectively. Center part 3 of lens 2 is partitioned to connectric circle 5 and 6 centering on point F, and the difference of their radiuses is t with the electric wave radiated as spherical wave 9. Circumference part 4 of lens 2 is a wave condenser lens which converts the spherical wave into plane wave 10 going toward axis Z' forming angle alpha with axis Z. The spherical wave radiated from horn 1 turns to wave 9 in case the angle formed with axis Z is theta3 or less, and wave 10 is secured if the angle is between theta3 and theta4. The relative position, the energy intensity ratio between the both waves are determined by central thickness t of the lens and the value of angle theta3 and theta4 respectively. And the direction of wave 10 is decided by angle. Thus, the gain characteristics of the antenna can be controlled.
