Abstract
PURPOSE: To indicate the degree of combortableness of a room and permit of change in a set level of a thermostat, by detecting the coolant temperature of an interior heat exhanger and the dry- bulb temperature difference between the upstream side of intake air and the downstream side of heat-exchanged air and estimating the relative humidity of the room.
CONSTITUTION: The inlet coolant temperature of the interior heat exchanger 4 is measured by a temperature sensor 7 at the inlet port of a coolant pipe of the heat exchanger and applied to a controller 10 to calculate the cooling capacity. Values measured by temperature sensors 8, 9 at the air inlet and outlet ports of the heat exchanger 4 are applied to the controller 10 to calculate the absolute humidity of the room. The relative humidity of the room is estimated from the absolute humidity and the dry-bulb temperature of the room. The controller 10 calculates the degree of comfortableness of the room from the relative humidity and the dry-bulb temperature of the intake air in the heat exchanger. Dehumidification or cooling is effected depending on the result of the calculation. The set level of the thermostat is varied to perform only the dehumidification to maintain the room comfortable without reducing the temperature of the room.
