Abstract
PURPOSE: To achieve a comfortable air-conditioning operation by controlling room temperature on the basis of discomfort index, by calculating the discomfort index in a room by a room temperature controller and turning on or off a cooling unit or a heating unit on the basis of the result of the calculation.
CONSTITUTION: This room temperature controller 3 is composed of a dry temperature detecting mechanism 1, which is to detect so-called dry-bulb temperature in a dry-and-wet-bulb thermometer, and a humidity detecting mechanism 2, which is to detect dew-point temperature or humidity or so-called wet-bulb temperature in a dry-and-wet-bulb thermometer. And outputs of these detecting mechanisms 1 and 2 are put into an operation circuit 4 for calculation of discomfort index, and by turning on or off a cooling unit or a heating unit 6 through a control device 5 on the basis of results of the calculation, a comfortable room temperature is maintained. Further, if a dry-bulb temperature DB°C and a wet-bulb temperature WB°C are put into the operation circuit 4, a discomfort index is calculated on the basis of the following equation: Discomfort Index=0.72(DB+WB)+40.6.
