Abstract

PURPOSE: To measure an equivalent brush resistance before assembly as a photoelectric type variable resistor by a preset calculation by feeding the resistor with a preset current so that the input resistances may be measured for the case, in which no light is irradiated upon the photoconductive element, and for the case the light is irradiated.
CONSTITUTION: In the equivalent brush resistance measurement using both an electric resistor 3, which is connected between input electrodes 1 and 2, and a photoconductor 5 for making the resistor 3 and an output electrode 4 conductive upon irradiation with a light having a preset irradiation width ΔS, both an input resistance Rid between the input electrodes for the case, in which the photoconductor is irradiated with no light, and an input resistance Rip for the case, in which the photoconductor is uniformly irradiated with a preset light. The bright resistance Rp of the conductor itself for the case with the uniform irradiation is deduced by using Equations [I] and [II] of the intrinsic relationships between the resistance Rid and Rip so that the equivalent brush resistance rpeq is deduced as the photoelectric type variable resistor before assembly from the irradiation width ΔS as well as the bright resistance Rp.
