Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve abrasion resistance and corrosion resistance and prevent interference colors on the surface by laminating an aluminum thin film on the metal magnetic thin film formed on a substrate thence providing a transparent protecting cover thereon thereby forming the magnetic recording medium.
CONSTITUTION: An aluminum thin film of about 0.01 to 0.2μ in thickness is formed through vacuum deposition, ion plating or other on a metal magnetic thin film formed on a substrate such as polyester film, after which a transparent protecting film of about 0.1μ or under in thickness is provided thereon. The synthetic resin thin film containing lubricants by ordinary coating methods, the transparent inorganic lubricant thin film by vacuum deposition, sputtering, etc. of magnesium fluoride, zinc fluoride, etc. and the like may be used for the above protecting film.
