CONSTITUTION:This recording medium is constituted by providing an underlying layer 3 on the nonmagnetic substrate 2, providing a nonmagnetic intermediate layer 4 on the underlying layer 3, providing the magnetic layer 5 of the thin metallic film thereon, and laminating a protective film 6 generally consisting of a nonmagnetic metal and further the plasma-polymerized film 7 and the top coating layer 8 contg. the org. fluorine compd. on the magnetic layer 5. The plasma-polymerized film contains C or C and H and is specified to 30-100at.% in the content of C. The top coating layer contains >=one kinds of carboxyperfluoropolyether or the salt or ester thereof, etc. The durability, wear resistance, weatherability, corrosion resistance, etc., are thereby improved and the head attraction is lessened. The high reliability is thus obtd. at the time of practicable use.
