Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a recording medium which is stably formed with films and has high reliability by providing a Langmuir-Blodgett film contg. the compd. expressed by the prescribed formula on a monomolecular film on the side where a hydrophobic group exists. CONSTITUTION:An underlying layer 3 consisting of Ni-P, etc., is formed by electroless plating on a nonmagnetic substrate 2 consisting of Al, etc. An intermediate layer 4 consisting of a nonmagnetic metal contg. Cr is formed in a gaseous phase thereon and after a thin film magnetic layer 5 consisting of Co-Ni, etc., is deposited by a sputtering method thereon, a protective carbon film 6 is formed in a gaseous phase. The prescribed L.B film 8 is formed on the uppermost layer by immersing the substrate in a liquid phase and the monomolecular film 7 having the hydrophobic group is interposed on the substrate 2 side of the film 8 and is so provided that the hydrophobic group exists on the film 8 side. The film 8 is made of CnF2n+1(CH2)m-Z<1>, where n=1-14, m=1-24, Z<1> is a hydrophilic group. The film 7 is formed of CH3(CH2)p-Z<2>, where p=10-22, Z<2> is a hydrophilic group, and n<=m which is selected at 8<=m<=24. The L.B film 8 having excellent film formability and stability is obtd. at this time. The high-reliability magnetic recording medium having excellent durability, wear resistance, weatherability, and corrosion resistance is thus obtd.
