Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a Diesel-electric locomotive which performs a stable control as the static type without a movable regulating resistance by making the output of main generator a detecting part irrespectively of sorts and forms of the engine.
CONSTITUTION: When output of the AC main generator 5 is approximately constant, current characteristic of the field coil 11 of the exciter 6 is of decreasing since impedance o the reactor 13 increases as the load current decreases. Also the current characteristic of the field coil 15 of exciter 6 is the same as that of the field coil 11 with respect to the load current. Here, the output of generator can be approximated to constant by selecting the satration characteristic of reactors 13 and 16 and turns of the field coil 9, 11 and 15 properly. The output of generator 5 is fed to the drive motor 8 through the rectifier 7.
