Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate the commutation of a thyristor inverter and perform sure starting thereof, by connecting a bias power source to one input terminal of a differential amplifier and making the frequency of gate signal higher through an oscillator at the starting than in the ordinary run.
CONSTITUTION: When a load 8 having a natural frequency such as an induction heater is driven by the inverter 3, the output of the differential amplifier 17 biased by a negative voltage on a terminal 18 is supplied to an RC circuit consisting of a transistor 19 and a capacitor 20 so that a UJT 21 generates a frequency corresponding to the time constant of the RC circuit to control thyristors 4∼7. At the time of the starting, because the output of the differential amplifier 17 depends on only the negative bias, the frequency of the output pulses is much higher than the resonance frequency of the load 8 and a long turn-off time is established. Then, the inverter goes into balanced oscillation. Therefore, the commutation is facilitated. This results in sure starting of the inverter.
